Why a Union?
Tech manufacturing workers at ZT Systems have faced a number of serious and ongoing issues:
- Mass layoffs that eliminated a large portion of the assembly workforce
- Suspected unlawful firings without clear justification
- Poor communication between management teams, causing confusion and instability
- Reassignments to roles outside of employees' job descriptions
- Lack of career path for contractors — many remain in temporary roles indefinitely
- Unsafe or poorly addressed workplace safety hazards
- Workplace accidents being treated as metrics, not human concerns
- Unclear job expectations and lack of formal training systems
- Wages that fall short of competitive industry standards
These issues are not isolated incidents — they are systemic. Without organized representation, workers have little power to negotiate fair treatment, improved safety, or equitable pay.
What Can a Union Do?
A union is a group of workers coming together to collectively bargain with management. Through a union, we can:
- Negotiate protections against unfair firings or layoffs
- Demand a safe, respectful, and legally compliant work environment
- Secure performance-based pathways to permanent employment for contractors
- Advocate for clear training programs and role expectations
- Push for industry-standard pay and regular reviews
- Ensure that grievances and complaints are handled fairly and transparently
Unionizing is our legal right — and it’s a proven way to gain the respect, protections, and voice we deserve in our workplace.
Know Your Rights
Under the National Labor Relations Act, you have the right to discuss workplace conditions, organize with your coworkers, and support union efforts — all without retaliation.
Employers are prohibited from threatening, punishing, or firing workers for union involvement. If you suspect these rights have been violated, there are legal avenues to file complaints and seek justice.
This movement is about more than just improving conditions today — it's about creating a fair and sustainable workplace for the future.
